• Attend a Safe Environment training session every three years.

Advocacy: This ministry assists those persons who cannot speak for themselves by providing an educated voice on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church as they relate to the Dignity of the Human Person and associated Catholic Social Justice issues.
Altar Servers (5th Grade & Older): Altar servers assist the priest during Masses by holding the Sacramentary during prayers, setting the Altar during Communion, and carrying candles at the beginning and end of Mass. To be an altar server, children must be registered at Good Shepherd, be at least 10-years-old (5th Grade) and must have been baptized and received First Communion. Training sessions are held twice a year for anyone interested.
Archangel Moms: This ministry’s goal is to provide fellowship and spiritual nourishment for mothers with young children by meeting the 3rd Friday of every month from 9 a.m. to noon. Childcare is available. Reservations must be made a week in advance at www.gscc.net.
Art & Environment Ministry: This group is responsible for the seasonal décor in the church that enhances the parishioners’ worship experience. Each season is designated with specific colors and symbols.
Baby Looms: This ministry promotes pro-life and serves as an outreach to our community by knitting baby hats on a loom. The baby hats are then delivered to various charities, including the Gabriel Project , Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mid-Cities Pregnancy Crisis Center, Baylor Hospital Nursery and HEB Harris Methodist Hospital Nursery. No knitting experience is necessary.
Boy Scouts of America: The goal of BSA is to train youth in responsible citizenship, character development and self-reliance through participation in a wide range of outdoor activities, educational programs and, at older age levels, career-oriented programs in partnership with community organizations.
Catholics Respect Life: This ministry implements the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities by facilitating the renewal of the Catholic community to a “Culture of Life.” It focuses on the incomparable and inviolable worth and dignity of every human person from the moment of conception until natural death, and especially considers the weakest as our primary duty.
Childcare: Childcare is provided for most parish events for children ages 1- to -12-years-old. Reservations must be made a week advance.
The children prepare for dismissal during Children’s Liturgy of The Word.
Choir/Musicians: This ministry provides the music at each Mass and some special celebrations. Members attend practice once a week and come early to Mass.

ChristCare: ChristCare provides assistance to parishioners and individuals from our surrounding communities who are in need. Through this ministry and in partnership with Catholic Charities, the following financial services are available:
· Rental assistance
· Utility assistance
· Credit counseling
· Career guidance
· Financial education
Clinical Counseling services are also available to those seeking assistance with stress management, communication strategies, interpersonal relationships, anger management, depression, in addition to other needs.

Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP): This is a spiritual renewal weekend designed to help individuals grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and with others in their faith community. It is an excellent opportunity for Catholics to renew their understanding of the basic beliefs and traditions of their faith.

Church Vocations:This Ministry is to assist the youth and young adults of our parish through prayer and discernment regarding the priesthood, deaconate and religious life. Opportunities are made available for persons to attend special talks on the spirituality and giftedness of various Church vocations and to participate in experiential "Come and See" vocation programs. Some of these possibilities are presented at parish and diocesan levels and others at seminaries and religious communities. Individual consultation and spiritual direction as well as group meetings are arranged for those in our parish and students returning from Universities during their break times. Frequent Mass, daily prayer and the Sacraments are recommended as part of the vocation discernment process. Our parish supports this call to discernment through daily prayer for vocations at Mass.
Collection Counters: Members of this ministry count the regular and special collections received during Mass and deposit the collections in the bank. Members must accurately record each collection envelope with the contributor so annual individual statements of charitable contributions can be provided to the individual.
Communications Team: This group is responsible for helping to promote parish events and programs through public relations, marketing and advertising. It also works to secure positive coverage about Good Shepherd various print and broadcast media outlets, including North Texas Catholic and local newspapers, and reviews as needed various promotional materials produced by Good Shepherd, including the website, flyers, newsletter and other printed materials.
Culture of Life Ministries: This is a network of GSCC parish ministries that support and preserve the dignity of human beings throughout their life -- for the unborn to natural death. It includes, but is not limited to works of mercy to those in need, advocacy for social justice and concerns, and medical ethics regarding human reproduction and end of life issues.
Donut & Burrito Ministry: This group provides coffee, donuts and breakfast burritos or sausage rolls to parishioners in the Great Hall after the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses on Sunday mornings.
Eucharistic Adoration: As part of this ministry, parishioners commit to coming to the Eucharistic Chapel to spend time in prayer and adoration of our Lord. During these hours, the consecrated host-- the body, blood, soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ -- is present and exposed in a monstrance. Scheduled adorers commit to coming every week at a particular hour, with two or three people (Prayer Partners). When someone is not able to come, that person simply checks in with a “Prayer Partner."

Wednesdays -- 9 am to 5 pm

Eucharistic Ministers (10th Grade & Older): The Eucharistic Ministry serves the Parish by administering Communion at Mass. This ministry currently involves many parishioners who are trained at quarterly training sessions. Lead Ministers oversee the Communion Service at each Mass.
Greeters: This ministry promotes an atmosphere of hospitality, welcome and belonging to enhance our ability to worship as members of a celebrating community and to experience God’s presence in our lives. Parishioners in this ministry greet and welcome parishioners and visitors as they arrive for Mass and special liturgical services, escort visitors to the Information Table for parish registration materials and reach out to all, especially those who need assistance.
Holy Trinity Catholic School: As the parish school of Good Shepherd, Holy Trinity is an accredited Pre-K through 8th Grade Catholic School that nurtures the gifts and talents of each child through a challenging academic curriculum, specialized enrichment programs and daily opportunities to grow in faith. It is a joint ministry with two other Catholic churches in the area: St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine and St. Michael Catholic Church in Bedford.
Homebound Visitation: This is a ministry of prayer, presence and Holy Communion to those who are confined to their homes, in fragile health or living with disabilities. Ministers respond at the requests of persons who are in need and visits are scheduled at the convenience of the persons making such requests. Whenever persons are in need of the sacraments of Anointing of the Sick or Reconciliation, the minister requests the pastor to make a visit to their home. If persons are homebound over a long period of time, sacraments from the pastor are offered once or twice a year, preferably Advent and Lent.
Inter-Religious Activities:This ministry promotes an appreciation of the Rites of the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, as well as the common elements of Ecumenism that unite us as Catholics with other Christian churches and ecclesial communities. It explores the religious culture of the three Abrahamic faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam with a special emphasis upon the Jewish roots of the Catholic faith. It also fosters an understanding of non-Christian religions. We invite dialogue and sharing of inter-religious activities within and beyond the GSCC community in the interest of nurturing a sense of reverence and peace among all God’s children.
Lazarus Ministry (Funeral Service Assistance): This ministry provides assistance at all funerals to assure that all funeral Mass details are met. This includes working with various funeral homes and funeral directors to set up our sacred space for funerals and meet with the funeral directors on the day of a funeral. Training is provided.
Linens/Altar Care: Members of this ministry volunteer to pick up, wash, iron and return linens four times a year. Additional volunteers are needed during Christmas and Holy Week.
Marriage Sponsor Couple: Marriage sponosor couples are trained to "journey with" engaged couples as they prepare for the life-long commitment of Christian marriage. Sponsor couples provide for the engaged a working example what it takes to achieve a lifelong marriage. The sponsor couple and engaged couple meet for 4-5 sessions in the home of the sponsor couple using the guide from the program "Fully Engaged".
Men’s Club: This group exists to unite all men of the parish and to reach out in fellowship by enriching and deepening the religious and social character of its members and reflect the ideas given to us by Jesus Christ. Some of the programs offered through the Men’s Group include: community breakfasts, Lenten Fish Fries, Texas Ranger Baseball Nights, Summer Golf outings, Men’s Retreats and more. We also host fundraising programs to assist with youth programming for our parish and support the children’s programs funded by Catholic Charities.

Mission Council: This advisory body meets periodically to assist the pastor in leading our parish and our youth in an appreciation of missionary work. Through the partnership between the dioceses of Forth Worth and Juticalpa, Honduras, Good Shepherd has entered into a covenant with the Fray Casimiro Cypher Center (the Trade School) in Campamento, Olancho, Honduras. Through our oneness in the person of Jesus Christ and our faith in Him, our parish is committed to share our personal and financial resources through an annual mission of our youth to Honduras and a biannual donation of our parish for the Trade School.
Mothers’ Manna: Mother's Manna is flexible ministry that provides meals as needed to members of the parish who have given birth, are sick or are experiencing a difficult time. Mother's Manna provides between two to six meals a week.
Nursing Home/Assisted Living Visitation:We provide a ministry of prayer, presence and Holy Communion to the elderly and sick at Bishop Davies and South Colleyville Ranch. Ministers are scheduled to conduct a weekly Communion Service on Sunday mornings. We also visit the rooms of Catholic residents who are unable to attend the Communion Service. Ministers may be given the opportunity to visit the sick or shut-ins, as we are made aware of particular needs and situations. The pastor also celebrates Mass once a month at both of these sites and is available for the sacraments of Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation.
Outreach: In our commitment to follow Christ's commandment to love one another, this ministry helps our parishioners find opportunities to give of their time, talent and resources to meet the needs of our community.
Prayer Shawl Ministry: Through this ministry, parishioners join together to knit prayer shawls and pray for parishioners who are sick or suffering through difficult times. The prayer shawls are then given to our parishioners in need.
Reader Ministry (6th Grade & Older): Lectoring is a ministry and a special privilege with many responsibilities. “Proclaiming the Word" requires a willingness to grow in your faith, a sincere desire to study the bible and its meaning and the ability to speak effectively before large groups. Preparation is critical. Each Wednesday night there are Lector Study Meetings for the weekend masses, as well as two lector workshops each year. New lectors are trained in the procedures, observed, and assigned a mentor. Teens are encouraged to participate and a select number are part of the lector ministry each year.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Children: This ministry assists adults with their entry into the Catholic church and is open to people from other faiths and backgrounds, as well as Catholics wish to enhance their own knowledge of their faith. The Christian Initiation of Adults program includes several stages marked by study, prayer, and rites at Mass, resulting in entry into the life of the Catholic Church and community. There also is a similar program for children
Good Shepherd’s RCIA Team.
Safe Environment Training:In conjunction with the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, GSCC offers training for every employee and volunteer to create a safe environment for children, youth and at-risk people of our community. This ministry helps conduct the training sessions that are offered on a regular basis at our parish. To help promote a culture of safety and prevent potential abuse, the diocese now mandates that ALL parishioners involved in any ministry must take the Safe Environment class. Even if you do not work with children, you must still take the Safe Environment class.
Sacristans: This group prepares the altar and sanctuary with the necessary liturgical objects needed for Mass and Sacraments. They also assist visiting presiders with pre-liturgy preparation and work closely with ushers, choir directors and other liturgical ministers to be sure their areas are prepared for liturgy. Training is provided.
Sewing Circle:This ministry is responsible for making Liturgical garments, baptismal garments and other articles used in liturgies. Members are required to sew and/or embroider.
Small Church Communities: The foundation of our parish began as Small Church Community ministry, with a tradition of gathering in small groups of people to share faith and life. As part of today’s Small Church Community ministry, a group of eight to 15 people meet twice a month at parishioner’s homes to reflect on their lives in the light of the Gospel, and to share their Christian faith through mutual support, prayer, and service.
Sound & Lighting: This ministry coordinates sound and lighting needs for Masses and other parish events. People involved in this ministry arrive early to their assigned Masses and distribute microphones, check lighting and test equipment before the service. During service, they manage and monitor equipment and make adjustments as needed. After service, they return sound equipment to original state and turn off the lights. For special parish events, this group manages and oversees the sound and lighting needs for the event.
Stephen Ministry: We equip lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to parishioners experiencing difficulties in their lives. We are here to listen, care, encourage and provide emotional and spiritual support.
Stewardship Council: This is an advisory body that meets bimonthly to assist the pastor. This council raises awareness annually regarding the Stewardship of Time, Talent and Treasure in our Catholic Community. The Stewardship of Time facilitates growing in our relationship to God; Stewardship of Talent ministering with our gift of service; and Stewardship of Treasure supporting the mission of our Parish. The Stewardship of Time is highlighted during Advent, Stewardship of Talent during Lent, and Stewardship of Treasure as needed. The Council sponsors a Ministry Fair for parishioners in the fall and spring, and also hosts an appreciation dinner for all ministry volunteers in the spring.
Vacation Bible School (VBS): Held every June at Good Shepherd, VBS is a week-long religious education program for elementary school-aged children. As part of VBS, a biblical theme takes focus for the week and is used to teach Pre-K through 6th grade students about God, Jesus and the Bible through song, play and fellowship. It also allows older youth of the parish to get involved as volunteer leaders.
Wedding Ministers: These ministers assist couples and their families with wedding preparation and are present at the rehearsal and wedding to help as needed.
Welcome Committee: This group welcomes new parishioners to Good Shepherd by making contact with them and inviting them to share their time and talent within the church and community. These ministers also act as resources for newcomers and plan and participate in periodic welcome activities, such as dinners and receptions.

Preparation is critical. Each Wednesday night there are Lector Study Meetings for the weekend masses, as well as two lector workshops each year. New lectors are trained in the procedures, observed, and assigned a mentor. Teens are encouraged to participate and a select number are part of the lector ministry each year.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Children: This ministry assists adults with their entry into the Catholic church and is open to people from other faiths and backgrounds, as well as Catholics wish to enhance their own knowledge of their faith. The Christian Initiation of Adults program includes several stages marked by study, prayer, and rites at Mass, resulting in entry into the life of the Catholic Church and community. There also is a similar program for children

Safe Environment Training:In conjunction with the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, GSCC offers training for every employee and volunteer to create a safe environment for children, youth and at-risk people of our community. This ministry helps conduct the training sessions that are offered on a regular basis at our parish. To help promote a culture of safety and prevent potential abuse, the diocese now mandates that ALL parishioners involved in any ministry must take the Safe Environment class. Even if you do not work with children, you must still take the Safe Environment class.
Sacristans: This group prepares the altar and sanctuary with the necessary liturgical objects needed for Mass and Sacraments. They also assist visiting presiders with pre-liturgy preparation and work closely with ushers, choir directors and other liturgical ministers to be sure their areas are prepared for liturgy. Training is provided.
Sewing Circle:This ministry is responsible for making Liturgical garments, baptismal garments and other articles used in liturgies. Members are required to sew and/or embroider.
Small Church Communities: The foundation of our parish began as Small Church Community ministry, with a tradition of gathering in small groups of people to share faith and life. As part of today’s Small Church Community ministry, a group of eight to 15 people meet twice a month at parishioner’s homes to reflect on their lives in the light of the Gospel, and to share their Christian faith through mutual support, prayer, and service.
Sound & Lighting: This ministry coordinates sound and lighting needs for Masses and other parish events. People involved in this ministry arrive early to their assigned Masses and distribute microphones, check lighting and test equipment before the service. During service, they manage and monitor equipment and make adjustments as needed. After service, they return sound equipment to original state and turn off the lights. For special parish events, this group manages and oversees the sound and lighting needs for the event.
Stephen Ministry: We equip lay people to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to parishioners experiencing difficulties in their lives. We are here to listen, care, encourage and provide emotional and spiritual support.
Stewardship Council: This is an advisory body that meets bimonthly to assist the pastor. This council raises awareness annually regarding the Stewardship of Time, Talent and Treasure in our Catholic Community. The Stewardship of Time facilitates growing in our relationship to God; Stewardship of Talent ministering with our gift of service; and Stewardship of Treasure supporting the mission of our Parish. The Stewardship of Time is highlighted during Advent, Stewardship of Talent during Lent, and Stewardship of Treasure as needed. The Council sponsors a Ministry Fair for parishioners in the fall and spring, and also hosts an appreciation dinner for all ministry volunteers in the spring.
Vacation Bible School (VBS): Held every June at Good Shepherd, VBS is a week-long religious education program for elementary school-aged children. As part of VBS, a biblical theme takes focus for the week and is used to teach Pre-K through 6th grade students about God, Jesus and the Bible through song, play and fellowship. It also allows older youth of the parish to get involved as volunteer leaders.
Wedding Ministers: These ministers assist couples and their families with wedding preparation and are present at the rehearsal and wedding to help as needed.
Welcome Committee: This group welcomes new parishioners to Good Shepherd by making contact with them and inviting them to share their time and talent within the church and community. These ministers also act as resources for newcomers and plan and participate in periodic welcome activities, such as dinners and receptions.

Women’s Group:The goal of this ministry is to develop and maintain an active women’s group at Good Shepherd, where all women feel comfortable coming to the parish for support and fellowship, to find a place to share their many gifts and talents and to provide a spirit of charity and outreach, while supporting each other, and strengthening our families and our Catholic faith.
