There are many biblical topics, books and people that are usually mentioned only in passing or not at all. What really goes on in temple sacrifices and fertility cults? When is the last time you discussed the Second Book of Maccabees? Or even the First? Who are people like Jezebel, Samson and Cyrus – and why are they important?  We’ll take a look these - and the class can suggest some additional obscure or little noted biblical issues to be researched and discussed.

Whenever we think of the Old Testament prophets, familiar names like Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel come to mind. But what about the twelve prophets known as the “Minor Prophets”? Join us as we explore the fascinating stories of these messengers from God and their distinctive faith witness, which helped a later generation of Jews to interpret the life and ministry of Jesus. Open yourself to the new and meaningful portraits these prophets paint of God and of God’s people. Dare to confront the challenges they present us regarding faith and moral living. Prayerfully reflect on the important messages that these voices of the Lord have for us today and how we can apply them to our lives.
