Father Tino, aka “El Padre” calls himself a priest, emcee, preacher, poet, retreat guide and sinner. He is originally from S. Texas and now is part of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal community in the Bronx, NYC. He joined the CFR’s in 1999 and currently serves as a member of the General Council for his community. He was a missionary in Honduras where he was the director of an initiative to build chapels in mountain villages and helped to organize food programs for the poorest of the families there. After returning to the states, he worked with the Franciscan brothers to rework their monthly holy hour apostolate. What developed was Catholic Underground, which begins with Eucharistic adoration and following Benediction, the second half of Underground is where the “new evangelization” is experienced. This part of the evening includes music, poetry, visual art, dancers, film, drama, etc.
Father Agustino is very effective in reaching our youth and we encourage the entire family to come out to the renewal.
